Last week I talked about how hard it is to get motivated in winter and gave
you some ways to keep moving towards your personal, lifestyle or business goals.
This week I’m going to share the top ten excuses I hear from people (and I’ll be honest, sometimes
from myself!). But more importantly, I’m going to give you some guidance on ways to reframe your
excuses into mini motivational quotes.
It’s all about mindset. Its’ okay to stumble and fall, just don’t stay there. Pick yourself up and keep
moving and you’ll achieve your goals faster and live that life of vitality and joy you so desire.
EXCUSE #1
What if I fail?
WHAT YOU CAN SAY INSTEAD
I’m super-scared of failing but if I don’t try, I’ll never know. I have engaged the right people and got
the right information to get me on my way. I will trust that the journey that follows has a higher
purpose.
EXCUSE #2
I’m so tired
WHAT YOU CAN SAY INSTEAD
I’m tired because I’m not living the life I want to live. It’s time to change.
EXCUSE #3
I’m too busy
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
I really want this. I will make time for it and if I struggle, I’ll ask someone to help me and guide me.
EXCUSE #4
My partner wants me to do something else.
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
My partner is scared of having to pick me up if I fall. I know in his heart he wants me to be happy. I
need to live my truth and reach MY goals to be a better person and that includes being a happier
wife and mother.
EXCUSE #5
I don’t have enough money
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
Money blocks will keep me away from my goal and my dream. I will work to remove those money
blocks and create abundance in my life.
EXCUSE #6
I don’t have the confidence
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
I want to live my true passion and do what really makes me happy and energises me. I will surround
myself with a tribe of supportive and loving friends and experts that will help me when I doubt
myself.
EXCUSE #7
I don’t know where to start
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
I’m ready to take the next step but am confused so will seek out counsel and support from people I
know.
EXCUSE #8
I don’t want to be seen as selfish
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
What other people think of me is irrelevant. What I think of me is the most important thing. And I
want to be proud of reaching my goals.
EXCUSE #9
I’m scared of making mistakes and tripping up
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
I accept that mistakes are a part of the learning and development process as I work towards my goal.
I will treat mistakes as an opportunities not as roadblocks.
EXCUSE #10
I’d rather focus on my kids and make sure they’re happy
WHAT YOU SAY INSTEAD
My children will grow and learn from seeing me flourish and reach goals that I set for myself. I will be
an example to them of what it is like to live your very best life.
Hmmmmm…. See how when you reframe an excuse the words suddenly have so much more power?
Time to empower yourself and when you hear that little devil on your shoulder whisper that sweet
nuthin’ excuse in your ear, you state the alternative loud and proud.
And own it.
