I have been an advocate for healthy eating and eating real food for some time. Preservatives and overly processed food are minimised (if we have any at all) at our house. And with two growing (and hungry!) kids, lots of people ask me how I keep the family on the healthy eating path.
The trick is to be organised, be strong and to basically not let the crap into your house in the first place. I have shared my pantry staples for healthy eating before (click here to have a read) . When there are only healthy options in your pantry and fridge, there’s no temptation to grab the non-healthy option.
The other trick is keeping the kids sweet with well….sweets that aren’t ummmmmm sweet. If you know what I mean!
I regularly make snacks or desserts that taste delicious but don’t have all the nasties and the sugar. The kids are happy because they get a treat. I’m happy because I know they’re eating healthy. My husband’s happy because he gets to eat yummy stuff too. Win win win!
Here are five of my favourite sweet snack recipes.
1. Milk and Cookies (the healthy version!)
It’s the way I keep my sweet tooth happy without it impacting my energy levels and my digestive system.
They’re all fun and easy to make and you’ll be the toast of your own kitchen (figuratively speaking)
